Poetry by: Johanna Jacoba (Kwist) van Es
Lowly shepherds knew His coming
And followed from afar seeking
The baby Jesus in the wake
Of a beautiful star
His birth was long ago foretold
By faithful men of old
Wise men brought Him precious gifts
Of frankincense, myrhh and gold.
Today we remember His birthday.
For He is born to us.
Again, not in a lowly manger bed,
But in the hearts of men.
The blessings of Christmas
Sent from above.
Redemption, salvation,
Forgiveness and love.
Peace past understanding.
Grace for each new day!
Thank you Lord Jesus,
On this, your Birthday!
The Angel host proclaiming
God’s mercy and His grace.
Anounced the birth of Jesus
In Heavenly song and praise.
The song remains for all to hear
And those whose hearts are true
Give thanks for all the gentle love
He bestows on me and you!
A rose so sweet, so fragile
Grows in a garden fair
Dispensing wondrous perfume
To all who linger there.
God’s love, so sweet, so tender.
His grace, so full, and free.
Within His holy garden,
Surrounding you and me.
